Offline mode
One switch that stops every call Lunos makes on its own behalf, for restricted networks.
Set LUNOS_OFFLINE=1 (from v1.18.41) and Lunos only talks to what you configured: your model provider, MCP servers, remote config and skills, and audit forwarding. Everything it would contact on its own behalf is turned off:
- the model catalogue refresh (the snapshot built into the binary is used instead)
- update checks
- downloads of LSP servers, formatters, ripgrep and npm packages
- syntax-highlighting grammars in the TUI
- session sharing and the marketplace
- the
webfetchandwebsearchtools
LUNOS_OFFLINE=1 lunosOffline mode means “only talk to what I set up”, not “no network at all”. Pair it with a model endpoint on your own network, such as vLLM or Ollama, to keep all traffic inside your perimeter.
With offline mode on, LSP servers and formatters work only if they’re already installed, and ripgrep must be installed as rg. A refused call always names LUNOS_OFFLINE in its message; it never hangs or retries.
lunos --version --verbose shows whether offline mode is on and which calls it turned off.
The full list of outbound calls, and the narrower switch for each, is in the self-hosted deployment guide.
